Twitch Announces New Policy: No More Streaming with Illegal Gambling Sites

Trusted Online Casinos » Twitch Announces New Policy: No More Streaming with Illegal Gambling Sites

In a recent policy update, Twitch has announced that it will no longer allow its users to stream content from illegal gambling sites. The new policy will take effect starting October 31, and violators could face suspension or bans from the platform.

This change is set to take effect starting on October 31st. This announcement comes after increasing pressure from various streamers about the dangers of letting illegal gambling be broadcasted.

Twitch Policy Update

According to a statement posted on Twitter last Tuesday, Twitch announced that starting October 18, the platform will prohibit streaming casino games like roulette, slots, and dice games through unregulated gambling platforms in the US or other jurisdictions with sufficient regulations about consumer protection. As per the statement:

“Gambling content on Twitch has been a big topic of discussion in the community, and something we’ve been actively reviewing since our last policy update in this area.”

“While we prohibit sharing links or referral codes to all sites that include slots, roulette, or dice games, we’ve seen some people circumvent those rules and expose our community to potential harm.”

“This ban comes after months of mounting pressure on the popular streaming platform, which has been accused of turning a blind eye to the growing problem of using illegal sites. Top streamers are the main source of pressure as they threaten to stop streaming through the platform if the issue was not addressed.”

While many Twitch users are passionate about playing through online casinos and sharing their sessions with other people, there is a growing concern that young people are being exposed to gambling through streams that feature platforms that are not licensed.

The announcement includes Stake.com, Duelbits.com, and Rollbit.com but the organization indicated that they may identify other platforms as it moves forward. However, Sports betting, fantasy sports, and poker are not covered by the new policy.

Dangers of Gambling With Illegal Platforms

Gambling is a popular pastime for many people, but it can also be risky. When online gambling is done through illegal platforms, the risks are even greater. Not only is there the potential to lose money, but also to be scammed or cheated out of winnings. In addition, illegal gambling platforms are often not regulated, meaning that they may not follow fair gaming practices.

This can lead to games being fixed, or odds being unfair. As a result, those who gamble on illegal platforms are at a higher risk of facing financial losses. In some cases, illegal gambling can also lead to criminal charges.

For these reasons, it is important to only gamble on platforms that are legal and regulated. By doing so, gamblers can help to protect themselves from financial losses and other risks.
